We are saddened to let homeowners know the
Appellate Court judges upheld the establishment of an adult business within
1,000 feet of school bus stops for the children of our communities. MHOAI,
along with our supporters, do not believe we could overturn this decision by
taking it to the Supreme Court.
Instead, MHOAI is continuing to work with you and your legislators for a state law that would prevent this from happening in and near our communities in the future. See Adult Establishment Legislation Proposed for more information about this proposed bill.
We are all very grateful for the help from local officials and residents in Elk Grove Township for their efforts in fighting this adult establishment. We all worked long and hard to bring attention to this issue. A special thank you to the City officials of Des Plaines and School District 59. Our work has not gone unnoticed or unrewarded. We are resolved to work with Springfield to put a stop to this type of establishment so near to our homes and family.
