Lyons Twp. Residents Meet Officials

Homeowners from five communities met at Lyons Township Hall in Cook County to introduce their issues to their elected officials. Many of these legislators are learning about our issues now that they are representing new districts based on the re-mapping. Along with Trustee John Walsh, others in attendance included Jerry Mulvihill representing US Representative William Lipinski (D-3), State Senator Viverito (D-11), Eric Madiar, Staff Lawyer representing State Representative and Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan (D-22). Also attending were local alderman, trustees, Supervisor Pat Rodgers, and MHOAI representatives.

During the meeting, homeowners vented their frustrations over interference of sales, unjustified high rent increases that price out the elderly, lack of needed upkeep in their communities by the landlords, and unfair leases. Better laws and new laws along with stronger enforcement are overdue for homeowners who are also constituents and voters.
