Willoway Terrace Seeks Incorporation

(Article added Oct. 15th, 2003)

Homeowners located in Willoway Terrace, in unincorporated Cook County, recently attended a meeting with Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia, City Attorney Dave Wiltse, and MHOAI to discuss the option of being rezoned into Des Plaines. Homeowners learned they would have city services, library usage, and city water if rezoned. Before the meeting took place fliers which exaggerated Des Plaines taxes, along with other untruths were passed out to homeowners. Des Plaines has always been a manufactured home community friendly city, and has a history of supporting the homeowners not only in Des Plaines but in Elk Grove Township.

Homeowners had approached Des Plaines a few years ago asking to be rezoned into Des Plaines, which at the time the city was unable to do. Now Des Plaines is working on this Issue. If the landlord opposes the rezoning, it may be possible for a referendum to be put on voter ballots next year. MHOAI will contact membership in Willoway Terrace once we meet with the city again.
