HB 3928 – Don't Stop Now!

Under Construction

In SpringfieldHB 3928 will be heard on December 1 by members of the House of Representative's Executive Committee. This bill is a stepping stone and will not hurt future legislation. This bill will form a needed ombudsman board, get the Illinois Attorney General to enforce set-up laws, and make sure employees hired or contracted by landlords have a state license to set-up homes. This bill has also given us the opportunity to meet with state departments and elected officials. They need to get more involved with our issues in order to keep up with the growth and changes in our communities.

The December hearing is our last step to get this law passed this year. If the bill is passed by the house committee, we would then need to write and call the governor's office to let him know we want him to sign the bill into law. However, there will only be a 7 day window for us to get our voices heard in Springfield. You need to write your letters now. Tell Gov. George Ryan that you want HB 3928 passed when the bill comes to his desk. Remind him that this bill is only a stepping stone for future legislation and we need his support as we protect our lifestyle. Use this opportunity to tell our governor that the State of Illinois must get the Attorney General's office involved if we are going to get our laws enforced.

If HB 3928 makes it out of committee, we will start a phone tree to get as many calls as possible to his office in the 7 day time limit. Again, MHOAI wants to thank you for all your help.

Mail the Governor at: Governor George Ryan, 207 State House, Springfield, IL. 62706. Or, e-mail at governor@state.il.us.
