With the team effort of homeowners through-out the state and MHOAI, along with state legislators who supported us, HB 681 was signed by Governor George Ryan into law this summer. This is an important step toward giving homeowners a louder voice, and better protections under state law. This will now be known as Public Act ILCS 92-0410, and will take effect on January 1, 2001.
Short Description: Creates a Quality Assurance Board, (4 homeowner and 4 landlord related representatives), provides that the Illinois Department of Public Health is responsible for enforcing mobile home setup standards. Requires that a mobile home manufacturer be licensed to sell a mobile home that is to be installed in this State and a licensed installer must supervise the installation of a mobile home.
A list of recommendations for the Quality Assurance Board is waiting for the Governor’s approval. Included on this list are MHOAI representatives. We look forward to working with you to obtain future laws that will continue to protect homeowners.
Note: These meetings are open to the public if you would like to attend. Contact a MHOAI director for future meeting dates.
