Why MHOAI opposes SB 91

In Springfield

SB 91 weakens fire safety standards for mobile home communities and raises legitimate safety concerns for local fire departments. In addition, it preempts a home rule entity from establishing more restrictive requirements. More restrictive requirements may be necessary depending on the needs and desires of a particular community.

SB 91 would take away regulations that are needed to insure the safety of residents in manufactured home communities when an older home is removed and a new one is put in. It would not allow entities that govern fire and health standards of these communities any room for upgrades in improvements needed if an older home is removed from a lot and a new one put in.
