Dear Illinois Senior:

Every older adult should have access to the health care, prescription drugs, and services they need. We recently improved our Illinois Senior HelpLine to make sure that seniors in Illinois know what services are available, and how they can get the help they need.

To find out about all of the new services Illinois offers for seniors, all you have to do is call us at 1-866-252-8966. We’ve added more trained operators to make sure that you get the answers you need. You can call anytime Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Senior HelpLine can help you locate a wide range of services for older adults in your community.

  • If you want to join the 43,000 seniors who have hot meals delivered to their home, the HelpLine could put you in touch with a provider in your area.
  • If you need help getting around your community, the HelpLine can connect you with a transportation company that services your neighborhood.
  • And if you’re looking for a job, the HelpLine can help you find a local position through the Senior Community Service Employment Program.

These are just some of the services and resources that the Senior HelpLine provides. And starting July 1, working with the AARP of Illinois, we added more funding and new services.

  • We’ve increased funding for the home-delivered meals program so more seniors can participate.
  • We’ve bolstered the Community Care Program to provide seniors with the support they need while living at home.
  • We’ve expanded our Home Modification Program, so seniors can install the equipment they need to live more comfortably and safely in their own houses.
  • And we invested in a new Emergency Home Response program, so elderly residents living at home can signal for help and get emergency care right away, anytime, day or night.

All these services are available through our Senior HelpLine. And don’t forget our Illinois Cares Rx program. That’s your safety net to make sure that you won’t have to pay any more out of pocket under the new Medicare Part D program. Medicare now has some loopholes that could cost you up to $3,000 more each year, but Illinois Cares Rx will make sure that whatever savings and benefits you enjoyed before Medicare Part D will still be there for you.
