In November, Illinois voters will consider
changes to the Illinois Constitution in Article
lx, Section 3. As is currently written, the Illinois
Constitution is explicit that a tax on income shall
be non-graduated. The amendment would
remove this limitation and instead opens the
door for lawmakers to pass a new income tax
rate structure.
Farm Bureau is asking voters to vote against
the Amendment. The Amendment gives the
Legislature the power to increase taxes on
any group of taxpayers with no limits and no
accountability and without any requirement
to use the additional revenue to fund essential
needs such as healthcare, education, or public
safety.
Taxes and spending are out of control.
