President – Terry Nelson resides in the Rand Road Community located in Des Plaines for the past 40 years. Terry served on the MHOAI board first as Treasurer from 1995 to 2001, then as President from 2001 to the present. In 2000 Terry was instrumental in forming the national Manufactured Homeowners Association of America. She served on this board as a Vice-President and Chaired the Midwestern Region. In 2005, Terry was appointed by HUD to sit on the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC) representing homeowners for several years. Terry also served on several state committees over the years including the Manufactured Housing Quality Assurance Board and Task Forces authorized by Illinois legislation. As our main voice in Springfield, Terry has visited more than 300 manufactured home communities statewide. Terry was employed at the Central Telephone Co. of Illinois, based in Des Plaines, for 25 years and has a lovely daughter.
Vice President – Mary Meyer resides in the Gateway community located in Frankfort. Mary has lived in Gateway for 19 years and also served on the Gateway Homeowners Association as Secretary four years, then President. Mary retired from Sears after 35 years .She held various positions, accounting Supervisor for 25 years, as well as merchandise analyst for 10 years. Mary was married for 26 years and has six children.
Secretary – Norb Snow has served on the MHOAI Board since 2009, first as a Director and now as Secretary. Norb has lived in Golf Vista Estates, Monee for 16 years serving on the Golf Vista Estates Homeowners Association in various positions including Director, Vice-President and President. Norb has a MBA, Masters Degree in Business and Finance. Over the years he has worked in positions that include Accounting Manager, Cost Accounting Manger and Production Manager for several companies. Norb has volunteered to serve on the MHOAI Fundraiser Committee the last several years and is Treasurer of the City of Monee. Norb is very familiar with Resident Owned Communities because he resided in one for 5 years while living in Florida. Norb and his wife Nancy have been married over 50 years and they have four children.
Treasurer – Halina Myers resides in the Pheasant Lake Estates community located in Beecher.
Halina is the Mother of two daughters,a retired Nurse of 30 years and has lived in Pheasant Lake Estates for 3 years.She was involved in a California rent stabilization action that took effect last summer, organized by the MHAction organization.
Directors:
Dave McKenzie joined the MHOAI board as director in 2009. Dave has served as President of the Wildwood Homeowners Association located in Sandwich. Dave volunteers his time serving on his church council and church committees. Dave and his wife Lee have lived in their community for 18 years. They have been married over 50 years and have three children.
Ralph Pierce has recently retired and lives in the Beach Park Community located in the Village of Beach Park for 4 years. Ralph was instrumental in forming the Beach Park Homeowners and serves as their President. While recently retired, Ralph continues working part time.
Chuck McCrary has lived in the Pheasant Lake Community located in Beecher for 10 years. Chuck worked at Ford Motors for 36 years and is now retired. Chuck has been married 44 years and has two children.
Ralph Sporck resides at the Shady Oaks community located in Minooka since 2004, and previously lived in a manufactured home in CT for about 10 yrs. I have volunteered since 1986 with various nonprofits: Literacy Volunteers of America, Jaycee’s , A.D.O.P.T animal shelter , Naperville and currently with the Will County Historical Museum in Lockport for 5 years. Hobbies include data entry, crocheting, and playing board games.
Don Buff resides in the Oak Ridge community located in Manteno for the past three years. Don is a retired school teacher, serving for 40 years. During those years, Don also held a position in two school districts as a District Negotiation Representative. Don is married and has two children.
Chris Updike is a long time member of MHOAI. Chris resides in Wandering Springs, located in West Peoria. She has resided in this community for thirteen years and works as a Caregiver. Chris previously lived in Royal Highlander before moving to Wandering Springs. She has 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Neighbors of Chris, and MHOAI have joined together filing a lawsuit against the new landlord, investors from Pennsylvania. The community was presented with an illegal $ 108.00 month rent increase and lease.
