Board of Directors BIO’s

Interim  President – Mary Meyer resides in the Gateway community located in Frankfort. Mary has lived in Gateway for 19 years and also served on the Gateway Homeowners Association as Secretary four years, then President. Mary retired from Sears after 35 years. She held various positions, accounting Supervisor for 25 years, as well as merchandise analyst for 10 years. Mary was married for 26 years and has six children.

Legislative Liaison – Terry Nelson resides in the Rand Road Community located in Des Plaines for the past 40 years. Terry served on the MHOAI board first as Treasurer from 1995 to 2001, then as President from 2001 to the present. In 2000 Terry was instrumental in forming the national Manufactured Homeowners Association of America. She served on this board as a Vice-President and Chaired the Midwestern Region. In 2005, Terry was appointed by HUD to sit on the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC) representing homeowners for several years. Terry also served on several state committees over the years including the Manufactured Housing Quality Assurance Board and Task Forces authorized by Illinois legislation. As our main voice in Springfield, Terry has visited more than 300 manufactured home communities statewide. Terry was employed at the Central Telephone Co. of Illinois, based in Des Plaines, for 25 years and has a lovely daughter.

Secretary – Ralph Sporck resides at the Shady Oaks community located in Minooka since 2004, and previously lived in a manufactured home in CT for about 10 years. He has volunteered since 1986 with various nonprofits: Literacy Volunteers of America, Jaycee’s , A.D.O.P.T animal shelter, Naperville  and currently with the Will County Historical Museum in Lockport for 5 years. Hobbies include data entry, crocheting, and playing board games.

Treasurer – Halina Myers resides in the Pheasant Lake Estates community located in Beecher. Halina is the mother of two daughters, a retired nurse of 30 years and has lived in Pheasant Lake Estates for 3 years. She was involved in a California rent stabilization action that took effect last summer, organized by the MHAction organization.

James Raby

Ralph Pierce has recently retired and lives in the Beach Park Community located in the Village of Beach Park for 4 years. Ralph was instrumental in forming the Beach Park Homeowners and serves as their President. While recently retired, Ralph continues working part time.

Don Buff resides in the Oak Ridge community located in Manteno for the past three years. Don is a retired school teacher, serving for 40 years. During those years, Don also held a position in two school districts as a District Negotiation Representative. Don is married and has two children.

John Holmgren 

Chris Updike is a long time member of MHOAI. Chris resides in Wandering Springs, located in West Peoria.  She has resided in this community for thirteen years and works as a Caregiver. Chris previously lived in Royal Highlander before moving to Wandering Springs. She has 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Neighbors of Chris and MHOAI have joined together filing a lawsuit against the new landlord, investors from Pennsylvania. The community was presented with an illegal $ 108.00 month rent increase and lease.
